The ceremony was at harbor cove followed by an inside reception with close family and friends. My favorite part was by far sneaking out to cross the street and catch sunset on the beach!

Allysson + Jared traveled with me from Phoenix to sunny San Diego for a dreamy wedding on the beach. We threw tradition out the window and really trusted in each other to host the perfect boho beach wedding experience.

The location is easily overlooked, but is definitely a highlight in the area. Are Permits Required for a Beach Wedding?

Permits are often required certain locations including national parks, city parks, beaches, etc. The purpose of obtaining permits is to ensure that the event meets safety, environmental, and zoning requirements while also managing the impact on public spaces and community resources. It’s essential to respect the regulations on permitting and plan ahead as much as possible. TIP: Find a venue or planner that does it for you!

Mission Beach Women’s Club is one of those venues. Skip the hoop-la, and get the necessary paperwork to host your beautiful boho beach wedding. Also, a lot of photographers (including myself) aide couples in obtaining the correct paperwork when needed as well. The paperwork protects everyone. It’s there for the location and community you are sharing your vows in, it’s there to protect you and your stunning event, and it’s there to protect the images going forward.

As a photographer, here are five tips if you are looking to host an experience like Allyson + Jared.

1. Keep your attire natural and earthy with pops of vibrant hues.
2. Incorporate unique ceremony rituals or symbolic gestures that reflect your unique personality or beliefs.
3. Take advantage of the natural lighting and scenery at the beach setting as much as you can for any portraits and candid shots.
4. Plan for sand-friendly footwear or forego the footwear altogether. You’re on the beach, get some sand between your toes and feel the wind in your face!!
5. Simple is enough. Similar to number one, you want to think natural overtones throughout the entirety of your wedding experience.
