Artist Point trail is only accessible a few times of year because of it’s snowy nature. Making a check-list for planning a killer elopement with the Cascades in the background is key to a smooth and flawless adventure experience. Check out these stunning views and read along for my tips and tricks on planning your killer elopement at Artist Point Trail.
There is a lot that goes into planning an elopement: the dress, the vows, the florals, etc. Planning the logistics of when and where is also pertinent. It’s one of the first steps and is key to creating the perfect experience at Artist Point.
As mentioned earlier in the post, the trail is only accessible a few times a year. It’s nestled in Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest and is surrounded by a ski area. The trail is ranked as a moderately challenging route on AllTrails, but presents a stunning scenic view and is a very popular location.
Because of the snow-pack from the ski trails, the best time of year to plan your elopement is in the summer season when the weather is warm enough to melt portions of the trail. Snow is usually always present in the form of various patches, but there are tons of photo opportunities. Keeping an eye on the weather is so important for any national park experience, and your elopement at Artist Point is no different. (So keep that in mind when you are planning what to bring and prepare for!*)
The next steps are finding your photographer and obtaining your permit. A great elopement photographer that has the knowledge of the area is an absolute must, and a special use permit is required to elope in the national forest. More information can be found here under the non-commercial group use section.
From there, it’s mostly smooth-sailing! Your photographer can act as a *guide to help you prepare your gear and timeline,* but the important details are organized. Other things to consider include:
Bonus tips: Plan your elopement for sunrise or sunset to avoid the bulk of the crowds. Take advantage of blue hour and pull out some warm-lit lanterns for some unique captures!
