It’s no secret that some locations are more ideal to elope than others. The allure of saying “I do” against a backdrop that simply wows and amazes has captured the hears of many adventurous souls. (Including myself!!) One of my passions is to travel, so I am familiar with why couples are choosing that more and more. Planning an out-of-state elopement can be both exciting and completely worth it!!
With an experienced team by your side, planning an out-of-state elopement can be so much fun. Thorough research on the chosen location is key. The biggest concern is understanding local regulations like how many (if any) witnesses are required, what is necessary for obtaining the marriage license, and obtaining any necessary permits well in advance to avoid last-minute hiccups.
Enlisting the services of a professional photographer experienced in destination elopements is a game-changer. They can offer valuable insights into scenic locations, assist with permit applications, and even provide recommendations for other vendors. From florists to officiants, their network can help streamline the planning process and ensure a seamless execution on the big day.
LET’S PLAN YOUR EXPERIENCE
Another helpful suggestion is to plan a visit. Whenever possible, visit the chosen location in advance. This allows the couple to familiarize themselves with the surroundings, identify potential photo spots, and address any concerns or uncertainties.
Whether you fly, drive, or boat to your elopement location, here’s a great place to start with your packing list!
Beauty + Grooming
*or ask your photographer about local vendor recommendations!
There could be a list for this alone! The famous “oh shit” bag has everything from safety pins and glue to stain remover, pain reliever, and a mini sewing kit! You never know exactly what might happen on your day. It is better to come prepared.
This isn’t a complete list. Of course you will need extra clothes for the travel days and days before or after the elopement day, but this list will definitely help you feel prepared for the experience itself!!
